Backpacks for Kids
The Kathleen Barsotti Non-Profit packs back packs full of school supplies to the children of farm workers on sustainable farms in Yolo County. We have been very excited to watch this program grow dramatically since the first year.
Backpacks for children include age appropriate school supplies such as binders, paper, pencils, pens, rulers, calculators, colored pencils, crayons, notebooks, pencil sharpeners, erasers, glue, and index cards.
We happily gave out the below number of backpacks each year:
English as a Second Language Classes (ESL)
The Kathleen Barsotti Non-Profit has teamed up with the Yolo Interfaith Immigration Network to bring ESL classes to the Capay Valley. During the summers of 2011, 2012 and 2013 farm workers at sustainable farms in the Capay Valley and living at the Madison Migrant Center were given the opportunity to participate in a twice a week evening class with child care provided. Class costs, child care and supplies were provided free of charge to the attendees.
